Hi for months phpfreechat 1.0 final beta 10 was working perfectly. But not many use the chat at the moment so I have not connected for a month or two. I tried to connect just now and it won't connect, says you must be connected to send a message.

The chat connected to SMF's SSI.php to get the username. As I say it was all working fine a couple of months ago and I have not changed anything at all. Any ideas what might have caused it? The funny thing is I have two versions of this chat, one is eoaa_chat which is the one used for the site and the one that won't connect and another one called chat.php which also connects to SSI.php and this one does connect with the SMF username. I have not got a clue what has happened here.

I seem to remember editing the SSI.php and adding some code for phpfreechat. I've searched the current SSI.php file and there's no sign of free or chat any where so can someone remind me what code needs to go in the SSI.php file?

Deleted what was in the cache folder and it works now. Not sure what happened and all the chat history has gone. Perhaps if I upgrade to the final version. Will check it out for sure ..

Well I've updated to 1.0 final and it's the same. Something must have changed server side. If I delete the cache and start again it works but then the next day it says You must be connected to send a messsage. So it must have something to do with the private folder. Any ideas?

Have installed this on another FTP server but then I realised it needs to access the forum/SSI.php file. Is there a way using PHP to make the chat.php file access another server?

I think this is a problem with permissions again because it all works but not all the time. I've discovered this program http://phpfm.sourceforge.net/ through this forum and it can set permissions for files created using PHP.

It's working now but it will happen again, it seems that newly created sessions cannot write to my FTP for some reason. It can write to the first initial session but after that it can't. Is there not a way using PHP to force 777 on all files created in the /phpfreechat_final/data/private folder and would it be safe to do that?
