Users not able to send private messages

Okay, I finally updated my code from the SVN, so it's at revision 1021, but the problem is, some people can't seem to open a private message tab to another user.
Now, this isn't the case for all users... I have the default 'My room' as the main channel, but then I also have people who are in another channel, call it 'Raiders' and they are thrilled they can join that channel, and leave the default channel now and not get forced back into it when the chat messes up...
The only problem is, they can't send PM's to each other, or to others outside the channel by name, but it's nothing wrong with the channel, because a user that stays in the default channel is able to send PM's to other in the default channel, but cannot send them to anyone that is only in the other channel...

If anyone has any insight into what's going on or how I can fix this, that would be great, because the separate rooms and private messages are a couple of the only reasons I'm still holding on to using this chat app.
