Accentuated characters

Hi

Special characters in the username don't display correctly: for example, the French first name "Clémentine" will display as "Clm0065ntine" . I tried different encodings, no go.

They do show correctly in the chat text, but not in the username.

Hmm, spoke too soon.

If I set the nick in the parameters, special characters are not displayed correctly. If I retrieve a nick from a database, they are. If I change nick using /nick command, they are too. Also, there's difference in display between the "nick joins myroom" display and the "whoisonline" display. Example copied from actual chat:

08:46:19* Invit0000 a rejoint le Bar //anonymous login with nick="Invité" set in params

07/03/2007 08:48:20 ‹Invit00› invité //I typed in "invité", note change (2 zeros gone, but typed text is correct; the whoisonline column displays "Invit00" as well)

07/03/2007 08:49:08 * Invit00 s'appelle maintenant invité //changed nick to "invité" using command, now display is OK everywhere including the whoisonline.

My page is iso-8859-1 encoded and I set the output_encoding param accordingly. My locale is french fr_FR.

Any thoughts?

you have to encode your nickname is utf-8 when you assign it programmatically using $params['nick']
