I just installed the new version and now my chat isn't working.

The installation instructions are very confusing. I'm not a programmer or coder. I don't know how to fix this.

Here's where my chat so you can see what it's doing:

Can anyone help?

I don't understand what that means? Remember, I'm just an ordinary person--I am not a programmer. Can you explain in simple terms?

Take your ftp client, go to your phpfreechat source directory (maybe chat/) and remove the content of data/private/cache/

I you are not able to delete it, ask your administrator to delete it at your place ... the web server is misconfigured.

Once I get it deleted, what do I do then? Do I need to reupload it?

No, just reload your chat page, then pray ...

What is my "chat page?" Is that the index?

When I contact my administrator, do I have them just delete the whole "private" folder?

(Ahhh, sorry, I just don't understand this.)

Gritty, just go back to the chat on your site after you've deleted the files.. that's as clear as anyone can make it. It's the equivalent of saying surf to your website's chat.

(If you do not know where that is then how did you manage to use any version of this chat system?) :/

I guess what I'm not understanding is what to do after I delete the file.

I thought he meant something else (something I didn't quite know what he meant) when he said go back to the chat page.

It would seem that there would be more to than that. So I delete that file, and everything should work fine after that? Is that what I am to understand? That file isn't necessary to the chat workings?

it means the chat will reset with the settings in the index.php file you are using for your chat.. and yes, it's that simple. Delete those cache files and the chat resets.
