Hi,

Chat not working from the computers we have in the office.

They are on the company network (using proxy).

Client is IE version 6.0 SP2. Trying to load the demo from your website.

Problem is chat fails before showing the nick name input field popup, with the following javascript error:

JS error: Line: 1444, Char: 1, Error: Object expected, Code: 0, URL: http://www.phpfreechat.net/demo.en.php

Kind regards.

This problem persists on the computers in our office. I tested another Ajax chat from these computers (Ajax popup chat or something). This works.

With the latest release 0.8 - the error is slightly different than before though:

Line: 21
Char: 1
Error: 'Class' is undefined.

Hope this helps. Else please let me know, what I can do to help out further.

I've checked, and yes this must be related to ActiveX.

The ActiveX setting 'Run ActiveX controls & plugin-ins' is set to 'Admin approved'. Whatever this means. How would the admin approve for phpfreechat to work?

BTW: In IE7 I've read that XMLHttpRequest can be used from JS (native support as Firefox etc.), without creating an ActiveX control. This hopefully solves such problems.

I'm a Linux user, I don't know how to configure Internet Explorer to allow only one website to run ActiveX, sorry...

Would it be possible to implement the iframe hack [1], for IE users that have ActiveX disabled?

It had been discussed on the xajax forum but I don't know if it's going to be implemented.
However, this feature depends on xajax library whose pfc depends.
