Interesting bug related to whosonline list

I'm trying to hide the "whosonline" list, and everything that goes there. So I'm trying to build a totally minimal chat window, just the chat. When I hide everything, including the whosonline and the whosonline button, the whosonline remains. But when I make the button for whosonline visible, then the whosonline list finally disappears.

No big deal for my purposes, but thought I'd post the bug.

I'm using the latest stable release, not the beta.

ps- just updated to the new beta version, and the bug exists there too.
