Nightf!y, your problem is certainly related to a proxy.php problem...
If you are a developer try to understand why the proxy.php generated files are blank.
proxy.php is generated near line 404 in src/pfcglobalconfig.php.
I hope you understand that as I'm not able to reproduce this problem on my server, I can't find any fix like that.

I am trying feverishly to resolve the issue. I have given recursive write access to the "data" directory and it seems to successfully create the "proxy.php" file (although I can't find it on my server at all). But there's still no success.

I have been trying to get b1.7 working on my home-box and webhost with the same, and worse problems you are facing.

Finally I installed 1.0-beta2 on my webhost and ... it WORKS ... not as sexy as 1.7 but still does the job until someone maybe even me finds out why it won't launch.

BTW even with b1.2 I still got corrupt files when checking MD5, but everything appears to be working.

Good luck ... a downgrade on a Beta is still ahead of the Final

I removed it. I am now trying beta 2 in an attempt to solve the problem quickly. It is giving me this message: "Fatal error: Failed opening required 'pfctools.php' (include_path='') in /home/sites/site34/web/phpfreechat-1.0-beta2/src/pfci18n.class.php on line 23"

I found something for those who have related problems try to chmod with 755 rights. Some servers configuration don't like 777 rights.
and try to apply the following patch : http://phpfreechat.svn.sourceforge.net/ ... vision=877

eddie, could you give me an access (ftp or ssh) to your chat server. It will help to debug.
(However it will be difficult for me to debug your installation because it's very very slow to load from france.)
