Editing params

I try to edit the max_channels, max privmsg, , timeout, max_text_len, max_msg, when i upload the
file and rehash, it messes up the php & i get alot of errors... What am I doing wrong?

I have no idea. Thats kind of like saying I'm trying to add gas to my car, but when I try to start it, it's making noises. You've gotta give us a little more to go on.
What are the errors? What do you mean "messes up the php?" Can we see what you're trying to do to edit those parameters (let's see the code)?
