Connect/disconnect notifications

Hi guys, is there a way to disable the notifications in the main chat window?
I would like the users to be able to leave and enter quetly.

I'll be mailing an announcement of a chat session to my list, and based on the past experience, only about 1% of people would start talking. So I don't want to pollute the chat screen with connect/disconnect messages because there could be hundreds of people joining within a short period of time. And all those notifications would fill up the screen and it would distract the people that are already talking.
