Hi,

I'm trying to install phpfreechat 1.3 into mediawiki but it seems there are problems with the database. I tried to install it into three different webspaces and it still gives me the same problem. It must be a bug either of mysql or of this software.
The error occurring is:

Mysql container: create table error 'Specified key was too long; max key length is 1000 bytes'

I tried to delete the database and install a new one but the error is still present. Mysql version is version 4.1.

Did someone of you have had this error before?

I'm stuck with the installation. No other database is available so I could use a simple file to store the data.
Could someone eventually post an how-to install phpfreechat into mediawiki (with needed config filese) by using a text file to store the user names and accesses in order to avoid the use of a relational database?

Thx in advance

What installer are you using? The one PFC uses to create tables on first run, or something for mediawiki?

I cannot understand what do you mean with the word "installer".

To install the phpfreechat you have to transfer all data to the server by ftp and to modify only a few settings in mediawiki. In particular Localsettings.php has to contain the path to WikiChat.php and the Databasefunctions.php has to be at its place if not already. Furthermore it is suggested to create a mysql database table before install.

Could you provide more infos? I followed exactly the mediawiki extensions guide. Which files do you need to check for inconsistency?

Edit: I ran the command to check installation.

Checking phpfreechat files validity

corrupted - ./src/containers/mysql.class.php (please replace this file by a correct one)
ok - ./version.txt
ok - ./COPYING.txt
ok - ./misc/doc-archi1.svg
ok - ./misc/login.svg
ok - ./misc/tabs.svg
ok - ./misc/clock-off.png
ok - ./misc/color-on.png
ok - ./misc/clock-on.png
ok - ./misc/png2gif.sh
ok - ./misc/logo_88x31.png

All other are ok

What does it mean?

Ok, I would suggest you get in touch with the person who wrote the extension then, it sounds like it's related to that, not PFC itself.
