Problems with permissions while installing

As described at the subject I'm having some hard time installing this script. I kludged version 0.6 (making all directories manually) to work, but as I tried to install 0.7 the same problems with permissions occur. Is there an easy way to do install and first usage so that it wouldn't complain about permissions. The server isn't mine so I have can't give all the access needed for www-data. There are so many errors that I won't paste all of those here. But setup-script can't be used.

Now I'm having this problem:

Fatal error: The xajax uncompressed Javascript file could not be found in the ome/users/xxx/xxx/xxx/xxx/xxx/data/public/xajax_js folder. Error in /home/users/xxx/xxx/xxx/xxx/xxx/xxx/lib/xajax_0.2_stable/xajax.inc.php on line 557

So... Why is it "ome/users/" (should be home) and how to fix?

Do you have a ftp access or a ssh access ?
if you have ssh, then try a simple : chown www-data:www-data *

Downgrading to version 0.6 helped with this.
