I have my chat been abused by some chatter that know that the chat parse Ascii characters... how do we disable this so they can stop abusing the chat?.... thanks to all..

Basically they type ascii text into the chat room, they type blocks and that fill up the text reading area and so on so on ...

Can you give an example? All plain text consists of ASCII characters. I'm guessing you're referring to the extended character set when you say "blocks" (i.e. ASCII characters somewhere above 0x7f?). What actually are they entering; escape sequences? Octal?

It should be a simple matter to filter out non-printable ASCII chars from messages, if that's what we're referring to here. That said, your problem user could flood the chat with '#' characters instead, so I'm not sure that's going to solve the root cause of the problem.

Indeed, some form of tweak to the "NoFlood" proxy seems like a good idea - you can auto-kick users who send too many messages and/or too big messages within a certain time threshold.

correct I was thinking if there was a way to filter that particularly in PHP, instead of using the noflood, cuz the chat already take a lot of resource to use it.... so I have disabled...
