I've looked through the forum to find this and tried many things myself and nothing seemed to help. The best answer i've found is update to the 1.0final version, which is the one i started with and currently have.

Information:
phpfreechat-1.0-final.tar.gz
phpfreechat-1.0-beta11-setup.php
Apache/2.0.59 (Win32) PHP/5.2.1

The installation worked with the beta11 setup. It loads up like it should and everything appears to be fine until..

I type a message then click send. Nothing seems to happen. After checking the temp files, they are created (even after being deleted) and they fill up with text, but its still not showing the text.

Safe_mode for php is off so theres no writing access problems. Theres also no .htaccess files that would interfere. I've done 3 fresh installs just to make sure everything went perfectly and it loads up like its perfect. The only problem is the messages dont show up in the chat box.

Please help...

Hi,

Great project by the way.

I am having a few problems tho, I have installed it and all is great baring the fact that when ever something is typed it doesn't appear in the chat window which sort of defeats the object of a chat room!!!! Are there any fixes to this yet ( I have installed 1.0 final)

The other problem is the fact when the chat window opens and loads up it doesn't bring up the "room" I have to click the connect button but as far as I have ready you shouldn't have to do that.

Theses are the params I have defined

Code: Select all
$params["title"] = "Premiere Dating Chat Room";
$params["channels"] = array("Lounge");
$params["showwhosonline"] = true;
$params["theme"]         = "zilveer";
$params["refresh_delay"]   =   1000;

Help asap would be brilliant.

Thanks alot.

I just resolved this error. The symptoms (messages not showing up) were the same, but I don't know if it is the same issue.
With debug mode on the traffic seemed like this:

sendRequest: /send deneme
handleResponse: send-ok-

and I didn't receive a getnewmsg-ok response back.

I looked into script logs and saw that the session folder was wrong (my host tells that the session should reside in <home_root>/cgi-bin/tmp). So I opened the file src/pfcuserconfig.class.php and added this line after "session_name( "phpfreechat" );":

session_save_path("<home_root>/cgi-bin/tmp");

after that, messages were shown correctly in the chat window. Hope that helps.
