I just installed utChat 1.0.5 (phpFreeChat 1.2) on Joomla 1.5.6, the problem I have is that IE 6 does not load the page, but Firefox does. I tried reading the french post from the link provided, I also found it earlier today when downloading. Here is the text as translated using Google's translater (French : English):

<b>It can happen with the joint use of the library Mootools (in the template or module) and IE, that the loading of phpfreechat does not. Il ya un conflit entre Prototype (la librairie qu'utilise phpfreechat) et Mootools. There is a conflict between Prototype (phpfreechat used bookstore) and Mootools.

Pour résoudre ce problème vous pouvez : To resolve this problem you can:

- soit ne pas utiliser mootools (préférez JQuery ) - Or not to use mootools (prefer JQuery)
- soit, lors de la création de l'entrée utChat dans le menu, choisissez d'ouvrir utChat dans un wrapper. - Or when creating the entry utChat menu, choose to open utChat in a wrapper.

I am looking at the template and other components/modules installed to see if Mootools is used, but haven't found anything yet.

Looking through other forums and posts I found that someone had done another integration of phpfreechat including the 1.1 version when utChat had a beta version. They also had the problems with IE and have 3 options listed here:

http://www.jpfchat.com/index.php?option ... 4&Itemid=1

I'm not sure how to force the component to use a modified template as suggested, my knowledge of the code is slim to none, and I tried setting the menu item to "open in new browser without navigation" without success. I would be willing to install phpFreeChat standalone IF I can pass the user id from Joomla to phpFreeChat so the nickname is already set for the user.

If anyone on this thread would explain what they did as far as they got,
I'd be glad to do what i can to try and make it work.
I'm still stuck here

Last night I found that the folks at Joomlagora.com posted a plugin to turnoff the MooTools when utChat is run. I have had no luck getting it to work even with this plugin installed and enabled. I am posting on their forum and Syan has been answering with suggestions about the configuration.

Hopefully there will be a resolution soon.

Bad news, I visited the Joomlagora.com forum and Syan has pulled the utChat extension from Joomla.org and closed the forum. I have not been able to get the problem with IE resolved even after preventing all the mootools java script files from loading from the joomla core and my template. I've tried assigning the menu as a wrapper using all 3 options for the window, still not working with IE.

The majority of my users are on IE and even though I have links to download firefox, it probably won't happen for most of them. If there is a way to install PFC standalone and pass the user name to it, I would be satisfied. Does anyone know how to accomplish this without it being a component?

I think it's weird that mootools would be an un-addressed issue.
Two of the three templates bundled with my joomla! use mootools, as does the one I would like to use, rt Novus

I just tried jPFChat and it totally works.

Also, I've seen utChat working here!!
Interesting that there is no js in that template.

The solution:
Go to Admin-Backend --> Componentes->jPFChat->Advandeced

Server Script URL should be /index.php?option=com_jpfchat
instead of http://url.com/index.php?option=com_jpfchat
!!!!

Try this, I think that's the solution. Isn't it?
