Error: \'data_public_path\' parameter must be a charatere st

I installed Php Free Chat on local PC, but it does not work. It produce error: "Please correct these errors:
'data_public_path' parameter must be a charatere string"

In administer section, after installation all phpfreechat settings are empty. When I press button Reset to defaults they are remain empty. Is it wrong?

Apache/1.3.33
PHP Version 5.1.6
Php Free Chat Module version 5.x-1.0-rc2
Php Free Chat version 1.0-final
Drupal version 5.3

Chat installed as desribed in INSTALL.txt
The module installed in folder www/sites/all/modules/phpfreechat
The chat installed in folder www/sites/all/modules/phpfreechat/phpfreechat

I have solved this problem. I have installed RC3 module version and this error has disappeared.
