Nice work

I have installed version pfchat1.0-beta8.zip with a few little issues but simple to sort apart from when I launch the chat I receive an error:

Error: the XML responce that was returned from the server is invalid.
Received:
A file permissions error has occured. Please check the permissions on the script and the directory it is in and try again.

I can not send to the chat either as I receive the same message.

I have changed the data directory and all subdirectories under it to 777 but to no avail. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I get this same error after installing. The chat box shows up fine, but I can't type anything in to it.
Anyone have any ideas?

Hi,

this might be a really dumb question, but i'm new to all this modding stuff. I have no idea how to install this mod. I have a SMF forum up and running and also a PHPFreeChat in version 1.0 and 0.9.3. I also realized that in the mod folder of version 1.0 there is no pfcconfig.php. I can only find this file in mod version 0.9.3. Could you give me a shot introduction about how to install this mod? Do i have to extract the mod folder to my pfc instllation folder? And what files do nee to be customized? I'd really appreciate some hints on this. thanks in advance guys!!

Greetings Hicks

lol I didn't leave, I had surgery recently and I am still for the most part stuck on the couch. :D I can make it to my computer for short periods of time every now and then but I generally dedicate my focus on my main project The Chronicles of Edorath which is pretty time consuming. ;)

Sure, first of all leave the mod zipped.

In your forum:
- click on the "Admin" link
- click on the "Packages" link
- click on the "Download Packages" link

Now next to "Package to Upload" at the bottom:
- click the "Browse" button
- choose the file on your computer
- click the "Upload" button

Finally when the package is done uploading you will be brought to a screen showing the name of the package. Next to that package click "Install Package", wait for it to install and you are good to go.

I got your e-mail, sorry for the delay I have been busy due to reasons stated above. I cant seem to repeat this error on any of my servers which makes it very difficult to fix. Let me ask you a couple of things, first off what version of SMF are you using? What version of PFC are you getting this error with?

Something may have just goofed up during download or install. One thing you may want to try (if you have not done so already) is re-downloading the file and re-installing it into SMF. Don't forget to uninstall, and delete the version you have installed in SMF already.

Hi Darkomega,

thx a lot for ur help. I've managed to install version 0.9.3 of the mod without any problems. great wirk on this m8!
However with version 1.0beta8 i receive the following error when installing:

Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required 'C:Programmexamppxampphtdocssmf_for_pfc1Sources../../PFChat/pfcconfig.php' (include_path='.;C:Programmexamppxamppphppear') in C:Programmexamppxampphtdocssmf_for_pfc1SourcesLoad.php(1724) : eval()'d code on line 8

I used exactly the same method for installing version 1.0beta8 as i used for 0.9.3. As i've stated already in my last post i realized that the pfcconfig.php file is missing in version1.0beta8. Might this be the problem? And if yes, how can i fix it? thanks again for your efforts!

Greetings

Hey everyone

Its been about a month and a half since I sent this mod to SMF for approval. I inquired about it a few times, got no response, no feedback nothing. People on SMF started posting and sending me emails and posts about downloads, bugs, etc, on top of the ones I get here.

The point is I have been uploading any fixes to 2 separate locations, and posting on more than 3 forums. I would like to centralize all of this just to make it easier on myself.

For any further information, downloads or help please go to:

Thanks

Hey everyone, I updated this mod today, the package now includes the following:

PFC version 1.0-beta9
Integrated SMF display names.
Displays chat users in SMF info center.
New PFC membergroup permission in SMF AdminCP

You can obtain this mod at the following link.

http://www.omegadesigns.net/support/index.php
Don't worry I do not require you to register before you download.
Enjoy
