Check.php not found but /examples/ works

nvro.net/chat/

I went to nvro.net/chat/examples/ and it seemed to work fine, so I copied one of the files, changed the locations and renamed it to index.html just outside the examples folder.

I also have htaccess with "AddType application/x-httpd-php53 .php" to allow php 5.3.0 since thats not the default on the server. (its in the same folder 'nvro.net/chat')

So anyways, examples work fine, but when I changed the file and moved it, it all of a sudden cannot find the check.php file.

Anyone know any causes to this kind of error?

Hey, using the "inspect element" thingy in Chrome, it seems that the jquery-1.8.2.min.js script (in /client/lib) is trying to access check.php from http://nvro.net/check.php, rather than http://nvro.net/server/check.php. You could change the path to the file in the jquery-1.8.2.min.js and jquery.phpfreechat.min.js files, or move the check.php file to the www directory.

I was not able to reproduce this problem.
Notice: check.php is located at the root of phpfreechat source code (not in server/ folder!)

I had the exact same problem. I have phpfreechat installed in a sub directory;
http://mydomain.net/chat/

When I tried loading phpfreechat from chat/index.html I got the error stating it couldn't find check.php. But it worked fine from the examples/ sub directory.

So I put the index.html in it's own sub directory; http://mydomain.net/chat/subdir/index.html
and that works fine, no errors, it finds check.php.

Hello,

I had the exact same problem as OP but i changed the path on the file jquery.phpfreechat.min.css and after that the error was gone, but this error start throwing this error:
"mod_rewrite must be enabled server side and correctly configured. "RewriteBase" could be adjusted in server/.htaccess file."

I have tested mod_rewrite and is working fine, also tested many combination with "RewriteBase" change the path but none has solve my issue.

If any one can guide me to solve this issue would be much appreciated.

EDIT: I just fixed the issue, it was a error on my end while editing the new index created.
I was missing the line where you tell where is the document root.
