Use phpFreeChat to Connect to irc Site

I want to be able to use phpFreeChat to connect to an outside irc chat server like efnet, etc. Can a customizable client be configured to do so?

It can, but you'd be better off just using a package already made to do that. There are plenty of web based IRC clients.
