I want to use Php Free Chat during live website auctions. It works great like this, but I cannot find out how to clear the chat completely between auctions and need to do that. Is it a case of deleting the chat files? If so, could someone please enlighten me on which files to delete? If there is another way let me know as well. There is nothing in commands that I can find.

Something that may work, but is still confusing to me is to add a new room on every auction. What I don't know how to do is remove the room afterwards. I need to remove it completely (kick and remove?).

Basically I need a new clean room for every auction (one or two a day only).

Thank you in advance,
Gerf

Hi Gerfnad,

There are 2-3 ways to achieve this.

1) By Chat Command per Session.
2) By limiting the parameter that controls the total visible messages/message history.
3) Deleting the log file for your current chat session.

The 3rd option is the quickest way to do this. Simply go into your FTP and locate your Chat Folder. Once there, click on the "data" sub directory, then click on "private" folder.

From here, click on the [logs] folder, where you will see a few sub folders with lots of characters. Each of these folders holds your chat session history, so you may have to go into each and load "chat.log" into Notepad or the likes. Once you identify the folder you wish to clear, simply delete the "chat.log" file (remember to save it elsewhere if you like to keep a history of your chat, other than these automatic log files).

Hope this helps?

All the best,
Cal :)

Thank you so much for the info. I don't understand the first option, the second is not really what I want.

I tried the third option. Only had one folder in the data/private/logs folder. Deleted it, but the chat is still full of text. Did a /clear command, it cleared the pane but a refresh on the window brought everything back. Is this being cached somewhere???

OK, think I've got it. I had to delete the "chat" folder as well. Seems to have worked.

Thanks again!
