Hi

phpfreechat is currently running only with flatfiles.

a) is it planned to include MySQL support in the future?

b) What is in your view the advantage/disadvantage of MySQL driven vs. flatfile driven chat software

Thanks in advance

phpfreechat runs with flatfiles by default.
But it uses a container system puugin to store data so you can write your own container to store data on mysql, irc, jabber ...

currently for 0.x branche, it exists:
- the default file container
- shared memory container (based on pear's SharedMemory package)

for 1.x branche, it exists:
- the default file container
- a untested mysql container based on php5 pdo, see : http://www.phpfreechat.net/forum/viewtopic.php?id=397

Advantage of flatfiles on mysql (or databases in general) is the simplicity to install.
Performances is maybe better with well structured flatfiles but it can be discussed because of cache possibilities with databases.
