My fellow friend "radionow" received and email from HG admin level 2 stating that Hostgator uses Apaches' suphp mod and at the requirement from the phpfreechat page is stated as unsupported module : http://www.phpfreechat.net/required-config
In the Known unsupported hosts: section reads as follow: All hosts with “suphp” apache module enabled.
Please Oldwolf can you confirm that SUPHP mod its unsupported?
We been with this issues since a week a go, testing my account and "radionow" 's and same behavior, this must be true because doesn't happens in a new installed vps server... with bare installation of Apache and Mysql and very few module loaded but SUPHP..
Alright, thank's OldWolf. I think I'm going to switch to VPS in a little while, my website is growing anyway and Shared Hosting just isn't going to cut it. When I do, I'll make sure it will work
I am convinced that suPHP does work with PFC, here is why:
I also have hosting at WebHostingWorld.net and have this chat installed. After talking with a rep at WHW, they do use suPHP, and they do not have the timeout issue with PFC that I have with Host Gator. Plus, the http://www.phpfreechat.net/required-config page says at the top versions less than 1.0 BETA 5.
If kerphi comes on maybe he can confirm this but i dont know how often he is on.
If this is the case and it's not supported by Hostgator it seems odd that they provide it as a directly installed module via QuickInstall in their cPanel. I was in the process of making it available on my own site but I'm a Hostgator user too so perhaps am wasting my time?
