Changing specific user nick color (nickmeta) disables chat

Hello,

I have followed the instructions on the "Customize" page of this website (http://www.phpfreechat.net/customize).

In my customize.js.php file I have this code:

pfcClient.prototype.buildNickItem_modify_nick_style = function(CircleSquared, span) {
span.style.color = this.getUserMeta(CircleSquared, 'red');
}

Ideally this would change my Nick (CircleSquared) to red. But what it does it seemingly disable the chat, as all of the past conversations in the chatroom disappear, and sending new messages results in no new messages appearing.

Am I writing the code properly? Do I need to identify a parameter in the index.php page regarding nickmeta? It all seemed pretty straightforward but attempting to do this is breaking my chatroom.
