PUNBB DB INTEGRATION/Bridge

Is it possible to have have phpFreeChat bridged with punbb usertable so that members of punbb will have to login to punbb to use the chatbox and their username will be the same as punbb etc.

I have done the punbb nickname hack but found this doesn't work that well as phpFreeChat is so reliant on cookies. and once logged in if the punbb user logs out they are still logged into the chatbox due to the cookie.

Any advice on this would be great.

it works well but you are right it doesn't handle forum logout actions.

yeah I tried that code but it is really just a quick hack and not very robust.

I want the phpfreechat to connect the punbb database properly and actually rely on it.

Why this code is a "quick hack" for you ?
It just does work, I don't know what is "connect to punbb database properly" for you ?

it is a hack because it is not at all robust. For example if you are logged out of punbb you are given a guest nickname...then if you login to punbb and go to chat you still have the guest nickname because it is stored in the cookie and the cookie doesn't update.

Also if you login to punbb and then log out and then log in with a different username the chat won't recognise this unless you delete the cookie from your browser.

Better integration would be that there are no guests allowed, you have to be logged into punbb to use the chat and your username of punbb is your name in the chat and when you log out of punbb you are logged out of the chat.

Right now the current integration is a workaround, not true integration.

I may write a database bridge for punbb once I have taken a good look at phpfreechat's code.

Is it posible to check punbb user list to integrate with phpfreechat?


If I login to the chat with a nikname like "cris" and in the punbb already exists an user with this nickname, when the punbb user try to login he can't use his nickname cause some gest are using it.
