I'm just getting started with PHP and I'm wondering what the -> symbol means in the following code:

function displaytime() {
return round(($this->et - $this->st), 3); }

Any help you could give me would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hello, welcome to the phpfreechat forums. Although it's an easy mistake to make, our forum is not actually a general PHP discussion forum. The purpose of this forum is to offer support and discussion for the software called "PHP Free Chat."

For general php inquiries, I would recommend http://www.phpfreaks.com/ Their site is specifically designed to help new and experienced users work out and discuss PHP and related fields (such as MySQL). Please visit their forum for further inquiries. :)

I'll also add that you can find a detailed explanation of classes (which includes your question), and good examples, at the following address:
http://us.php.net/manual/en/language.oop5.basic.php

Thanks,
OldWolf
