A suggestion on the CPU load

I guess some effort need to be put in to make this scalable.

One possible solution is to have some ultra light weight HTTP server as proxy and pooling the commands to run.

And then talk to the apache every one or two seconds.

Or....any ppl think of writing a dedicated server (plain coding may not be difficult but there is a big risk in security for a home made server...)?
