I e-mailed her about that, maybe that's the case, but I doubt it.

Maybe try to add a little explaination on the top of the chat page.

"To send a message, just press the ENTER key"

That could be one solution. I actually changed the text when mousing over the input field to "Type text here and press Enter to send". It helped some people.

Another bug I noticed though. It worked fine in 0.7, but since 0.8 when a user closes the chat window, the others see a time out message, instead of the "user quit". That makes people who are just comming to peek in and leave look like timeouts. This is also true for the demo here. Just look that there are no quit messages, everybody times out (unless they are testing the connect/disconnect button).

By the way, thanks for the chat. I was looking for something like this for a long time.

just to report.. this bug is still there.
I don't know if it should be called a bug, but probably. When you (actively) leave the page or close the window, the chat should say "user left chat", not "disconnected (timeout)".
It's not important to fix now, but just so you don't forget ;-)

Maybe a callback on the window.onClose (or whatever it's called). It worked in 0.7.

On firefox this event can't be caught ...
On IE when reloading the page this event occurs ... Konqueror seams to have the same behaviour as IE.

What can I do ? Is it possible to know if the user just reload the page ?
Is it a good idea to show "user quit" and "user is connected" each time the user reload his page ?

Following the kajetan advice, I just added a new parameter :
- quit_on_closedwindow: Setting this to true will send a /quit command when the user close his window. It's not set to true by default because on IE and Konqueror/Safari, when the user reload his page this event occurs.
