Clearing chat, not just client screen area

Hello,

I know I can use /clear to clear the chat window of messages. But new users logging on will still see the old chat messages that I assume are stored in the message file. Is there a way to clean out the messages for a chat room so all new users see a fresh screen? Hopefully in a way that does not require clearing out the history log file?

Will that affect the messages being stored on disk?


BTW, what is the logic for the chat logs. Do they keep getting appended forever? Are they reset at the end of the day and archived, or just reset? Which file should I look at to see what's happening?

It will just affect the message history length: the messages users see when they connect at first time or when they reload.

The chat logs are stored by the log proxy. And are never cleared.
