How can i change a guest name to username on login

I like this chat seems rather hassle free but one problem i am have

Some one enters chat they are auto registerd as e.g. guest1020

They then they login so now there is a session ($_SESSION["username"])
is there any way of auto changing guest1020 to the username

I already have it set up to auto make the nick the username if they are already logged when they enter.

Is there a fix for this?

it works but the problem is when i go to login i click on the password field and start to type but the page keeps focusing and jumping back to the chat input field??
