Advantage of the client/server setup ?

Is there an advantage to having the chat setup with the client side and server side files (demo3_config.php and demo3_server.php) vs all in one config?

Also if one is to use the client / server file setup is there somewhere on the site that I have missed that explains which parameters go in which file?
