I am enjoying PHP free chat and it is a great chat room. However I am having a few problems cuztomizing it with me site design. The major problem I am having is with nicknames not being refreshed. Once a user joins the chatroom the name that they are given stays with them until the browser is closed and reopened. Whether the name is Guest or if it is taken from the database. Once the browser is closed and user re-joins chat a new name can be given. Is there anyway to refresh the chat without closing the browser???

The other problem I am having is with the clock parameter. Setting it to false does not get rid of the time/date column. Any help with these two problems would be great.

I am using chat version 0.9.3

This is the excepted behavior... Could you explain what you want to do ?

This is because the on/off state is saved into the cookies. Could you clear your cookies and reload ?

I tried clearing the cookies on my machine and the clock still seems to be there. Is there a set of cookies stored somewhere on my server?

As far as the nicknames, I was hoping that users would be able to use the chat without logging in as a guest and when they log in their login name be used. Is there any command that would close down the javascript chat and allow it to be reopened without closing the browser?

So if you have registred users and you have their nickname before they connect, just use the "nick" parameter.
Ex:
$params["nick"] = $nickname_coming_from_your_system;
