There is no installation folder unless you downloaded the setup script..
uploaded the unzipped folder to my root(also tried later to 1 of my forum roots)
put the destinations in my browser (signed in with password when box appeared)

You need to integrate phpfreechat in order to work with your forum system, as standalone what you need to do is upload to your root or whatever place you please and chmod "DATA" folder and subfolders to 777, then just go to the your URL http://yoursite/chat once you got installed and working , browse the phpfreechat site and take a look at the parameters and customizations subjects.

If you want it integrated with forum there are tutorials on the forum to integrate it and use the login system for your forum. Like utan said, there is no installation folder, as long as you CHMOD the "Data" folder to 777 then the chat will work right away. There is no need to set it up with a database, unless you want to.

The latest version 1.3 has no install script at all, all you get is the .zip or .tar.gz that you have to extract. Once extracted and you chmod you should be good to go, just setup some parameters and all that fun stuff ;)
