If I set $params["max_text_len"] = 30 for testing purpose, I can only type 6 caracters in both IE and FF. So I tried 25 chars and like I thought I was able to only enter 1 caracter in the input box.
There is a mystery 24 number hiding somewhere?

You know I'm playing a lot with pfc lastly...

This is due to the text colorization. It uses bbcode to colorize the text and unfortunatly these extra characteres are taken into account by the text length limitation procedure.
I will have a look but it's not a priority for me currently.
