max_msg is cool ... but a nice feature would be also a max_age that would indicate the oldest message you would like to see. They would be used in conjunction -- something like:

max_msg = 20
max_age = 120

Would logically be ... show me the last 20 messages as long as they are no older than 2 hours (120 mins). The thought is that you probably want to see the last little bit of history (to get caught up) but maybe not what people said yesterday where the conversation left off.

Interesting feature, it's not a priority for me but I keep this idea in mind.

I hearby ask also for #bmorley request of a max_age feature. It looks unprofessional to have messages in a chat room over 1 day old, or for sensative chats, it would leave the message there when not needed.

Another option would be to add a command such as /flush which would delete all messages currently in the chat and to restart the chat as a new to the next person who entered.

Regards.

If you want to fix the securoty problem, you just have to setup the "max_msg" parameter to 0.
Then new loggued users will not see at all old messages.

Hi there!

This is an old tread, but I need a hand...

My chat module is has its "max_age" set to "0", but I get old history coming al the same. I've searched sitewise and found this variant only in "pn.php" on the root folder, besides some other pages named with "demo" as their first characters, which I don't think are relevant - please correct me if I'm wrong.

My page is below (just a demo site, so far):
http://www.gamesonly.no/index.php?name=chat

Anything else I should do to flush the history?

Appreciate the help!

Replace "max_age" by "max_msg" and don't forget to rehash your chat.

Hei kerphi,

After reading the previous posts, I got confused. I meant to say "max_msg". That's what I have changed to "0".

But how do I rehash my chat? Delete cache and refresh?

Cheers
