Hi guys (and girls),

I tried to develop a custom command (as a starting point i tried to modify the /me command) which pushes a javascript alert to all connected users.
The effect I wan't to have is that everybody notices this "popup" and has to click it away in order to continue chatting.

Unfortunately i could not bring it "to life".
Could anybody help me please?

Thanks Chris

Hi,

I can only help you telling you that if you use a popup to drive attention to the users, you run into the possibility that if the user receiving the alert is away from his computer at the moment the popup comes up he will be disconnected, somehow the onfocus event which this chat uses detects that the user windows is not focusing he will be treated as a disconnected user, so using this approach is not the way to go at all, users away or idling will be disconnected when they received the popup and didnt pressed the Ok button, so its very much possible.. this same behaviors can be seen when you try a command when you arent a admin, a popup comes up telling you so, and if you don't press the button acknowledge it then you get disconnected after the time out kicks in..

hope this helps...

For this special implementation of the Chat the timeout is not important (it is a closed usergroup which is working on touch terminals and the alert is planned to grab attention of the person on this terminal and sent by the Administrator)
