Ubuntu users

Hi,
I'm using fpc from 2 weeks and I think it's great!
I'm using it on my little ubuntu server (still 8.10 distro) and I'd like to have one more option but I couldn't find it around!

I'd like that, when an user log in into the chat, instead of asking him a nickname, the chat gives him his ubuntu user-name as a nick.
Is there the possibilty that a php function reads the username from ubuntu?
Is it possible in your opinion?

Unfortunately, that's not possible. The user does not broadcast that information.

and there is a way to SAVE the nickname? like a cookie?...
in order to open the chat and load the nick from the cookie if it has been saved!

Sure there is, but you would need to track down where the setting of the nick is handled and use that. It might be easier to just have them log on on a screen before the chat, and assign the nick based on that.
