I would love to see an add-on that translates the chat to the chosen language of the user dynamically during the chat session

The chat software can already be transated to the user's language, but the chat itself (what your users are writing to each other) cannot. To be perfectly honest, I doubt such an add on will ever be added... there's really no practical way to translate what other users are typing. :(

actually - a paid competitor of this software does it - This application is far superior and the price for the other is rediculous. I realize the translation wouldn't be perfect but it would be helpful when using this as a live support application.

Anyway I love this script - just thought I would mention it.

Could you link me? I'd like to see how they offer this. I can only assume they have the translator off-site and have the software query it, because the sheer weight of a full translator for multiple languages on your server would prevent you from having more than a few users active.

Keep in mind too, most translators really lose a lot of the person's meaning due to the dificulty of word-to-word translation. I've run into a lot of issues with that, even using professional level translation (unless it's done by hand by a human who can understand the meaning behind the statement).

I'm sure you are right - its not php based either

Yeah I know, I speak three languages myself - some translate well and some do not - but the basics translate somewhat - in a chatroom that has a lot of users it may end up sounding crazy - like I said though - someone using this script for support on a one on one basis may find it useful.

Yes, please post a link here... I don't think we're in too much danger of losing clients, since we offer fairly different services with very different target audiences. :)

I may have to remove my foot from my mouth because it depends on where and how you read it - it may only translate the interface dynamically - pretty much what this does (just not dynamic)

tell me what you think

It looks to me as though it does not translate user's text, only the chatroom's constant text. I may be missing it though.

Sorry. :(
