Shift+Enter with bigger textbox for msg input

When looking at phpFreeChat, I have a thought of making the input msg box a little bit bigger. The only concern that I have is it only allow one line of text, while in IRC, you can enter multiple line of input by using shift+enter to avoid the text to be submited automatically.

Do you think this will be do able? It has more benefit for discussion when trying to post a code to the chat channel or an article maybe, and etc.

What do you guys think?

On the very first pfc version, it was possible to submit multi-line text but I had problems with cross-browser compatibility.
However, I think it'as a very good idea and I will try to found a solution.

Sorry if all I can do is only requesting features, but I'm currently working on my first javascript application, which uses ajax type technology for my server side scripting. Hope I might learn something that can be helpful.

Thanks to you links, I was able to write cross-browser code to support the TAB key used for nicknames completions.

I think I will look at a textarea widget with Shift+Enter behaviour after the 1.0 release. But feel free to implement a such widget, I will be pleased to itnegrate it into pfc source code.
